What is Glaucoma?

January 31, 2018

Glaucoma is an eye disease that causes damage to your eye’s optic nerve. This leads to loss of vision and even blindness over time. This can be detected through comprehensive eye exam. The people who are more prone to this eye problem are those with diabetes. It may also be inherited and may not show up until later in life.

Glaucoma treatments include medicines, laser trabeculoplasty, conventional surgery, or a combination of any of these. Be sure to take your medicine if you’re on it and always follow the procedure and instruction of your doctor.

It might save your vision but sadly, this may not improve your eye sight affected by Glaucoma. Although this disorder cannot be cured, you can prevent vision loss with early detection and treatment.
