According to the latest survey, seniors constitute about 13% of the population. It is estimated that there will be about 78 million seniors in the U.S. by the year 2030. Since seniors make a significant proportion of the population, it’s important they should focus on their health and wellbeing. Renowned medical expert Dr. Arthur Hayward suggests 10 ways essential health tips for aging adults.

  1. Quit Smoking: Smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products increases a senior’s risk of developing cancer. By quitting this hobby, older adults can lead healthier lives.
  2. Stay Active: Engaging in physical activities on a daily basis helps seniors stave off diseases, maintain balance, prevent falls, reduce stress, and sleep better.
  3. Eat Healthy Foods: Switching to healthier foods helps seniors prevent heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other health issues. Senior women should consume vitamin D supplements to prevent osteoporosis.
  4. Maintain Healthy Weight: Obesity increases the risk of heart disease. By replacing sugary drinks with water and exercising on a regular basis, seniors can maintain a healthy weight.
  5. Prevent Falls: By removing clutter, keeping the path clear of electric cords, and using proper lighting at home, seniors can prevent falls and keep accidents and injuries at bay.

  7. Prevent Skin Cancer: With age, the skin becomes thin and susceptible to cuts, injuries, and cancerous growths. Aging adults should avoid exposure to UV rays and apply sunblock creams when going out.
