15 reasons to visit the Lake District

There are thousands of great reasons to visit the Lake District, whatever the season and whatever the weather!

The scenery and landscape are some of the most stunning in the UK, protected by the National Trust with miles upon miles of untouched woodland, mountain peaks offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and fells.

The Lake District is perhaps predictably most famous for its many lakes! There are 16 picturesque bodies of water in the Lakelands, but interestingly only one is officially a lake geologically speaking. The largest, Lake Windermere, is 15 square kilometres and is the largest in England, with boat rides, great wildlife, peaceful ramble routes and great local pubs for lunch all adding to a great day out for the family.
