Best Things To Do In Milan, Italy

Italy’s second biggest city Milan is a popular tourist destination with up to six million people visiting the capital of the Lombardy region. With around 50 churches, 50 museums, and around 20 basilicas, the city is a key tourist destination whether you are looking to shop, try new cuisines or soak up the vast history.
The top attraction and historical site in Milan is the Duomo di Milano and it’s terraces. This Gothic white marble cathedral church is considered the greatest church in Italy and the 5th greatest in the world. It was built from 1386 to 1965 in honor of St. Mary of the Nativity. Another impressive historic site is the Castello Sforzesco, which was built by the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza during the 15th century. Now, several museums and art collections call this castle home as well as Sempione Park, one of the most picturesque parks in Italy.
Home to high fashion and great shopping, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, is one of the first passage malls in Europe located in Milan that connects the front of the Duomo and the front of the La Scala Opera House. It is full of elegant shops, bars, cafes and is free to the public.
If you are looking for great food, Milan is home to the Cololetta alla Milanese, a well known dish consisting of a veal cutlet with bone fried in dawn butter. This dish can be found for around 18 euros. You can also check out Survey Via Paolo Sarpi (Chinatown) full of diverse hair and beauty salons, cheap restaurants and fancy boutiques. For desert, the most delicious ice cream for any taste and flavor can be found in the central part of the city.
