For centuries, green tea has been used as a medicinal drink. Its health benefits made it popular throughout the world, and nowadays, it’s one of the most popular beverages around the world.
Green tea comes from a plant called Camellia Sinensis. This plant is, also, the origin of other famous types of tea: black, white, yellow, oolong, and pu’er tea. Although they come from the same plant, they have different taste, scent, and color due to different methods of processing involved in their production. One of the things which makes them different is the level of oxidation they undergo. Black tea is the most oxidized tea, whereas green tea undergoes a minimum level of oxidation. This process is responsible for green tea’s specific grassy flavor and goldish color.
