Healthy Eating Under Quarantine

What and how we eat is rapidly changing due to the COVID-19 outbreak. With more people staying indoors than ever, this is the perfect time to get creative with your diet and to transition into practicing permanent, healthy eating habits.
Grocers, retailers, restaurants, and nonprofits have had to make changes to daily operations to accommodate consumers’ shifting purchasing and dining behaviors. As we break social isolation to keep our refrigerators and pantries stocked, it’s important to take extra precautions while exposed to crowds. Sales are up, and shoppers are stockpiling items such as canned goods, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and bottled water. Here’s how you can eat healthily and shop safely under quarantine.
Opt for grains, snacks, beverages, frozen fruits and vegetables, and canned beans to last through the pandemic. Avoid peaking shopping times, use wipes to open refrigerator doors and maneuver shopping carts, and remember to remain 6 feet away from others.
Taste the bright side, and get creative with your in-home quarantine cooking. Here’s how you can stay fed and stay safe as we await the virus’ death.
