Removing sediment is an important part of any wine serving process, if you do not remove the sediment from your wine through a decanting process, then you will fine nasty solid bits of bacteria in your mouth and cause heavy stains to your lips as well as your glassware. Make sure you have a powerful light source to hold your wine bottle over for when you slowly pour it out, making sure not to let any sediment pour out of the bottle neck.
