5 Ways Your Body Changes During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a wonderful process and a beautiful experience to have. However, it will change your body in many ways. Some of the effects of pregnancy will wear off after you have your baby, and others will take a while to return to normal. You may have to do some exercises and even seek medical assistance for some of the issues that might arise. The following are five ways your body changes during pregnancy:

1. The Breasts Get Larger
One of the first things that will happen is that your breasts will get larger. They will feel fuller and more tender. You might even notice that they start to feel tender during your first few weeks of pregnancy. They will continue to grow during your pregnancy as they prepare to produce milk and nourish your newborn child.
2. You Will Gain Weight
Another way your body will change during pregnancy is that you will gain a massive amount of weight. You’ll gain anywhere from 40 to 60 pounds. The weight will include your growing baby, the placenta, fluids, and the legitimate weight that you will gain from the eating you’ll do as your pregnancy progresses. A lot of that weight will come off shortly after you have your baby. The rest of it might take a while, and you might have to work hard to eliminate it. You can do so by getting involved in an exercise routine shortly after you have your baby.
3. Your Stomach Will Stretch
Your stomach will stretch a lot during your pregnancy, and you may develop stretch marks on the skin from it. You may also develop a condition known as diastasis recti. The condition occurs when your abdominal muscles separate. You may need to seek medical assistance if this develops.
You can learn how to check for diastasis recti and then decide how you want to address the issue. It’s up to you to address it in a way that’s favorable to you. Exercises can help it in some cases, but in other cases, it might be too advanced for that to be a solution.
Just being pregnant won’t necessarily doom you to developing the condition. It’s something that you should be aware of so that you won’t experience any surprises.
4. Your Skin Tone Will Change
You will develop skin tone changes during your pregnancy because of the hormonal changes you experience. Some effects may seem beautiful, and some of them may not seem so favorable to you. You might get a rosy complexion that people refer to as the pregnancy glow. On the other hand, you may develop some dark lines on your skin. Some of the most common places that women develop the dark line are on the abdomen and back.
However, some women get it on their breasts, thighs, and backside. In some cases, women get them on their noses, too. Other conditions such as acne or eczema may occur, as well. These problems will usually subside shortly after the baby comes and your hormone levels return to normal. However, you may want to apply some creams to help you with conditions like acne. You can apply the cream to areas such as the breasts and stomach that may develop stretch marks, as well.
5. Joints and Ligaments Will Loosen
Your joints and ligaments will also loosen during pregnancy to help your body to prepare for the delivery of your beautiful child. As your joints and ligaments stretch, you might find it increasingly difficult to gain footing when you need it. That’s why it’s not advisable to have a physically demanding job while you’re carrying a baby. You can exercise during your pregnancy to keep yourself in shape.
However, you should keep your exercises light, focusing mostly on strengthening your cardiovascular system. Don’t overdo it. Stop exercising if you feel faint or you feel as if you’re overworking your heart. There are healthy ways and unhealthy ways to do things.
Prepare Yourself Mentally for the Changes
Pregnancy is still a wonderful experience to have. However, it’s good for you to know all the changes that might occur and how they will affect you. Now you can approach your pregnancy with full knowledge and understanding. Good luck with your baby.
