Following recent discussions in the media regarding the use of smartphones by children and young people, loveit coverit surveyed 1000 UK parents to find out how they felt about their children owning and using a smartphone. This includes parents’ greatest fears are about their children using a smartphone to get online, the amount of time that children are generally allowed to be on their phones, and the average age that smartphone ownership is allowed among young people. On top of this, we also looked at the number of parents that have concerns about the threat of cyberbullying, to help parents, educators, and local authorities better understand the increasing prevalence of the issue.
While this infographic will not definitely answer whether smartphones are stealing the childhoods of children, we hope that it will provoke a discourse that needs to be had to, and shine a light on an issue that is often overlooked.
