Whether you are new to freelancing or a veteran with years of experience, however, there are certain do’s and don’ts of the business that everyone needs to learn at some point.
Here are some tips for freelancers:
Do know your value. Understand how much your services are worth compared to others in your industry of similar skill levels. Know your skills & limits well in advance before undertaking work. However, don’t overestimate and oversell yourself.
Have a schedule, and try to stick to it. Don’t procrastinate and wait for the deadline to arrive to actually start working. But remember to plan some time for leisure, take breaks, treat yourself to a night out every once and a while, or do whatever it is that you do to unwind, relax, recharge, and have fun.

Do set a charge for your services. Figure out the minimum amount you will charge despite the size of the job. Have a set base rate, and explain your work simply to your client. Don’t waste time negotiating because you don’t have a rate sheet.
