Eco-friendly Roofing Options

Everyone needs a roof to cover their heads and to protect them from the elements like the harsh sunlight and the rain. However, we’ll need to replace our roofs sometime. It might be wise to switch over to eco-friendly roofing and below are some examples of such. Read on and see the benefits of some of the eco-friendly roofing here.
Recycled Material Shingle Roofing
One of the most affordable eco-friendly roofs is from recycled materials like plastic, wood fiber, and rubber. This roofing mimics non-recycled slate and shakes and the best part, they don’t contribute to pollution.
Rubber Roofing
Rubber, PVC plastic, and tires tend to end up in landfills, but people can use them to protect their homes as roofing. Rubber roofing can stand up to harsh weather thanks to its water resistance and flexibility that keeps storms and branches from damaging the roof.
Solar Roof
Solar roof shingles can look and function like traditional roofing while being able to produce electricity for the household. Besides protecting the home, eco-friendly people can benefit from using solar energy, reducing their dependency on fossil fuels and the depletion of the planet’s resources.
Another eco-friendly roofing is metal that lasts for around 40 to 70 years while requiring minimal maintenance. Thanks to the benefits of eco-roofing, it may be time to use them. See this infographic by Fahey Roofing Contractors’s for more information.

  1. Wow, I never heard before that rubber roofing is a viable option for eco-friendly materials. I bet it can be quite an effective insulator on top of being water-resistant. I’ll most definitely consider that the next time I get a roofing contractor to replace my roof.
